Frequently Asked Questions

  • The term Psychedelic is a combination of the Greek words "psyche" (mind) and "delos" (to reveal). This gives us the common definition of psychedelic as "mind-manifesting".

Clinically, psychedelic refers to a class of compounds that reliably induce this state in individuals at certain dosages.

When combined, the psychedelic experience is a direct, embodied experience of how an individual’s mind works. This sets the foundation for the deeply introspective potential that these compounds and experiences have to offer individuals.

In a controlled setting, psychedelic experiences often provide individuals unique insight, emotions, or experiences of why and how they are the way that they are. They discover where patterns of behaviors emerge from, how they relate to themselves, others, and the world, and the current state of who they are at the time of the experience.

It is of the utmost importance to work with a trained facilitator taught to incorporate preparation, integration, and exploration of the environment that supports you.

Set, Setting, and the system you exist in are extremely important for therapeutic psychedelic work. Set refers to the mindset you are in when entering into the medicine work. This is often a part of what makes preparation so important. Setting refers to the place where you will take the medicine (licensed service center) and who is present for the ceremony. The environment or "matrix" (a term coined by Betty Eisner) is also important for understanding influences in your lived experience and the support system you may or may not have available to you.

  • Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in more than 200 species of mushrooms that grow naturally around the world.

For centuries, Indigenous and Tribal communities across the globe have used psilocybin for spiritual, ceremonial and other purposes.

They are psychedelic drugs, which means they can affect all the senses, altering a person’s thinking, sense of time and emotions.

The key ingredient in magic mushrooms is psilocybin. When psilocybin is taken, it’s converted in the body to psilocin, which is the chemical with the psychoactive properties

It has been used for centuries in spiritual practices and is known for its ability to induce profound changes in consciousness and perception.

Microdose Your Marriage offers guided psilocybin experiences in a safe and supportive environment for individuals and couples. Psilocybin Truffles are legal in Oregon where all journeys take place.

  • Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy is an available option and has been shown to be effective in couples work. This can also be a more affordable route for folks - because the duration of the medicine ceremony is much shorter at 3 hours rather than 6-8. Let Dr. Hadeed know if you are interested in learning more about KAP.

  • Psilocybin truffles are safe when consumed in appropriate doses and in a safe and supportive environment.

Psilocybin has a low level of toxicity, which means that it has a low potential of causing potentially fatal events like breathing problems or a heart attack.

Studies do show there are health risks associated with taking psilocybin, particularly when unsupervised and outside of clinical supervision.

A careful screening is a part of the process with Microdose Your Marriage before our work can begin. This ensures you are assessed for any possible contraindications.

However, as with any psychoactive substance, there are potential risks and side effects that should be considered. These can include anxiety, paranoia, confusion, and physical discomfort, as well as the potential for psychological distress.

  • The health screening involves answering questions about your physical and mental health, medication use, supplements, life experiences, and habits. The goal is to ensure your safety and prepare for a beneficial psilocybin experience.

Providing accurate information is vital for safety and the effectiveness of the psilocybin experience. Inaccuracies can lead to challenging, unsafe, or difficult experiences.

  • Effects of psilocybin mushrooms usually appear within the first 20 to 40 minutes of consumption and typically last 4 to 6 hours.

Once altered state has ended, there may be some residual effects from the drug, which can last until the day after the trip has ended. However, the body should return to a normal state within 24 hours.

The amount of time they last will depend on many different factors of the drug and the person consuming it. Typically you can expect to spend 6 hours in a psilocybin ceremony.

  • The setting of the experience is incredibly important. The service center we work with has created an ambient, secure, and supportive environment that minimizes potential risks and maximizes positive outcomes.

You will be provided with a curated playlist of music, encouraged to wear an eye mask to promote an inward experience, and be under the supervision of your facilitator for the entire duration.

  • Intense emotions such as sadness, anger, and fear can be and often are a part of a psilocybin experience.

Commonly, challenges experienced during the journey are later viewed as positive, and ultimately felt to have been necessary or worthwhile.

One study analyzing over 200 challenging psychedelic experiences, more than 67% of respondents regarded the long-term consequences of their experience to be either positive or mostly positive, while less than 4% regarded the consequences to be either negative or mostly negative.

‍Challenging experiences are also much less likely to occur when intentional preparation, integration, “set and setting”, professional support, and other considerations are taken into account.

A survey study of over 600 lifetime psychedelic users found that factors such as lack of preparation, interactions with contraindicated prescription medications, lack of psychological support, and negative physical setting were associated with challenging experiences.
