My Microdose Your Marriage Story: The Unfolding Journey
Microdosing Your Marriage: The Unfolding Journey
My intention with this blog post is to outline what you can expect from this podcast, discuss what I mean by Microdose Your Marriage, and share parts of my own Microdose Your Marriage story.
What is Microdosing Your Marriage?
First, let's talk about what I mean by Microdose Your Marriage. The title is catchy, and I like the way it sounds. Yes, we will be discussing psychedelics and their potential healing benefits along with microdosing, but our main focus will be on relationship wellness.
As a psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience, I will draw from my professional journey during the interviews and personal shares. You'll hear stories from my own life and from the lens I experience the world through. We'll also have conversations with experts in the fields of psychedelic science and relationship wellness, aiming to normalize, educate, and destigmatize these topics.
A Vision for the Podcast
My hope is to create a space for education and information, engaging in dialogue with individuals in the mental health field and those working at the intersection of mental health and psychedelics. Education is something I deeply believe in as an advocate, activist, and mama. It's one of the greatest gifts we can offer. This podcast will evolve and take shape as we progress, and I am open to shifting directions along the way.
The Birth of Microdose Your Marriage
The title of this podcast is also the name of a book I am working on, which I hope to publish by the spring of 2025. Furthermore, it's the name of a practice I’ve recently launched aimed at relationship work. On our website, www.microdoseyourmarriage.com, you can learn more about this practice dedicated to working with individuals and couples, including non-romantic relationships like mother-daughter or sibling relationships.
The Importance of Right Relationships
In our journey, it’s crucial to focus on the relationships we have with ourselves, others, and even substances like psychedelics. The term “right relationship” resonates with me—it's about deciding what that means for each of us individually. It's a universal human condition to be curious about our consciousness, and this curiosity will be a recurring theme.
My Personal Journey: Conscious Uncoupling
Here’s a pivotal part of my story: I chose to dissolve my marriage consciously and happily. Before you tune out, let me clarify—it didn't end because of microdosing or a lack of effort, but because we chose to surrender to the truth of our situation. It was empowering and beautiful.
A story with my mom encapsulates this well. When I told her about my divorce, she initially reacted with passive-aggression but eventually came to understand my perspective. This acceptance reflects the approach I want to promote through this podcast and my practice—to help couples, whether they choose to mend or amicably part ways.
Psychedelics and Relationship Transformation
Psychedelics contributed to my clarity in ending my marriage. They helped cut through noise and defense mechanisms, allowing me to see the truth and reclaim my role as the architect of my life. This doesn’t negate the work and emotions involved—psychedelics aren’t magic fixes, but tools that, when combined with other work, can aid in healing.
The Ripple Effect of Healing
Working on ourselves positively impacts all our interactions. The healthier we are, the healthier our relationships will be. An example of this is from my creative process for recording this podcast. I found that leaving my daily distractions and creating a focused space allowed me to align with my inner compass, leading to profound moments of connection.
A Serendipitous Encounter
During a creative retreat on the Oregon coast, I met an artist named James Samsel. Our conversation about psychedelics and wellness led to him sharing a vulnerable part of his life through a short film. This encounter epitomized the essence of this podcast and the power of vulnerability—his story moved me, and solidified my decision to have him design my book cover.
Conclusion: An Invitation to Vulnerability
In this inaugural blog post and episode of Microdose Your Marriage, my intention is to set the stage for a series of authentic conversations around relationships, mental health, and psychedelics. I invite you to share your stories and experiences authentically. Together, we can normalize mental health struggles and the exploration of consciousness, creating a ripple effect of healing and understanding.
Stay tuned for more episodes and stories from inspiring guests that will deepen our understanding and support our journeys in relationship wellness. Let’s embark on this voyage of being kinder and more loving—both to ourselves and to each other.
Thank you for joining this journey.
